Godox DP400III-V Professional Studio Flash

The Ultimate Studio Workhorse, Now Running Cooler Than Ever

When you are ready to transition from portable speedlights to a permanent, powerful studio setup, the Godox DP400III-V is one of the most reliable and cost-effective monolights on the market. Packing a robust 400Ws of power, it delivers incredibly consistent color and output, making it an ideal anchor for portrait, fashion, and product photography studios.

The "V" in the model name represents a massive quality-of-life upgrade: Godox completely replaced the older, blistering-hot 150W halogen modeling bulb with an energy-efficient 30W LED. This means your studio stays dramatically cooler during long shoots, your models stay comfortable, and you can safely use lightweight modifiers or color gels without the fear of them melting.

Why You'll Love This Flash

  • Cool-Running LED Modeling Lamp: The new 30W LED modeling lamp provides a bright, clear preview of where your light and shadows will fall. Because it runs remarkably cool compared to old-school halogen bulbs, it is significantly safer to use with heat-sensitive modifiers, grids, and snoots.

  • Built-in Wireless Control: It features Godox's legendary 2.4GHz X-System receiver built directly into the chassis. You can place it on a light stand and immediately trigger it, adjust its power, and turn the modeling lamp on or off directly from your camera using any Godox X-series transmitter (like the XPro, X2T, or X3).

  • Universal Bowens Mount: The front of the flash utilizes the industry-standard Bowens S-Type mount. This gives you instant access to literally thousands of affordable light modifiers—from massive octaboxes and beauty dishes to optical snoots—from almost any manufacturer in the world.

  • Fast Recycling Times: When you are shooting a fast-moving portrait session, you don't want to wait for your lights to catch up. The DP400III-V recycles to full power in just 1.0 second, ensuring you rarely miss a crucial expression.

  • Highly Granular Power Control: You can dial the 400Ws of power from 1/1 (full power) all the way down to 1/64 power in incredibly precise 1/10th-stop increments, giving you absolute control over your exposure.

Things to Note

The most important thing to understand about the DP400III-V is that it is a traditional AC-powered studio strobe, meaning it must be plugged into a wall outlet to function. It does not have an internal battery, making it unsuited for field location work where power outlets are unavailable.

Additionally, this is a fully Manual flash. It does not support TTL (Through-The-Lens auto-exposure) or HSS (High-Speed Sync). You will need to use a light meter or your camera's histogram to set your exposure manually, and your shutter speed will be limited to your camera's standard flash sync speed (typically around 1/200th or 1/250th of a second).
