Godox Lux Master Retro Camera Flash

Where Vintage Aesthetics Meet Modern Innovation

For photographers who want their gear to make as much of a statement as their images, the Godox Lux Master is a masterclass in design. Heavily inspired by the iconic Graflex 3-cell "potato masher" flashguns wielded by press photographers in the 1930s and 40s, this bracket-mounted strobe combines a stunning, nostalgic exterior with Godox's most advanced lighting technology. It completely reimagines what a modern flash can look like, trading the standard hot-shoe block for an elegant, wand-like handle wrapped in leatherette and topped with a brilliant fan-style silver reflector.

But the Lux Master is far from just a vintage prop. Behind its classic bare-bulb look lies a fully modern, professional-grade lighting tool. It seamlessly integrates into the Godox 2.4GHz wireless ecosystem, boasts a highly responsive full-color OLED touchscreen, and fully supports TTL and High-Speed Sync (HSS). Whether you are chasing that punchy, high-contrast 90s direct-flash aesthetic, or simply want a powerful off-camera light that looks gorgeous on set, the Lux Master delivers an unmatched blend of style and substance.

  • Iconic "Potato Masher" Design: The flash mounts alongside your camera via an included Arca-Swiss compatible bracket rather than sitting on top of it. The included silver fan reflector physically folds open, while the bare-bulb design throws a beautiful, distinctively punchy light that perfectly mimics classic press photography and the modern disposable-camera aesthetic.

  • Full-Color Touchscreen: Hidden on the back of the vintage housing is a beautiful, round color touchscreen. You can quickly swipe through menus to adjust settings, switch modes, and dial in power from 1/1 down to 1/256 in precise 0.1-stop increments.

  • Seamless Wireless Integration: The built-in 2.4GHz receiver pairs effortlessly with Godox's modern wireless commanders (like the X3, XProII, or X2T). If you are using the tiny X3 trigger, a single tap on both devices instantly syncs them.

  • Pro-Level Sync Features: Unlike the simpler Lux Junior or Lux Senior flashes, the Lux Master supports TTL auto-exposure and High-Speed Sync (HSS) up to 1/8000s, giving you the freedom to shoot wide open in bright daylight.

  • All-Day Built-in Battery: A high-capacity 7.2V / 2980mAh internal lithium battery delivers an impressive 460 full-power flashes per charge. It recharges conveniently via an onboard USB-C port in roughly two hours.

Things to Note

The most important thing to understand about the Lux Master is that it cannot mount directly into your camera's hot shoe. You must attach it to your camera using the included bottom-mounting bracket, which makes your overall camera rig significantly wider and heavier. To fire the flash, you must either connect the included sync cable from the flash to your camera or mount a separate Godox wireless trigger (like the X3) to your camera's hot shoe.

Additionally, while the flash head can tilt vertically from 0 to 90 degrees for bounce lighting, it does not swivel horizontally. If you tilt the camera vertically to shoot a portrait, the bracket and flash move with it, which can make handling feel a bit cumbersome. Finally, because the high-capacity battery is entirely internal, you will need to plug it into a power bank or outlet to recharge.
