The most important consideration when deciding between this 10x42 model and its 8x42 sibling is managing the magnification. 10x magnification significantly amplifies the natural micro-tremors of your hands. Secondly, the right-eye diopter ring (used to balance the focus between your left and right eyes) does not lock into place. While it has enough friction to stay put during normal use, you should occasionally check it to ensure it hasn't accidentally been bumped out of alignment while pulling the binoculars in and out of a tight carrying harness.
