Things to Note

Because it is designed to let in a massive amount of light and deliver flawless optical quality, this lens is very large and very heavy. At nearly 2.3 pounds (1060g) and almost 6 inches long, it handles more like a 70-200mm zoom lens than a traditional 35mm prime. It will significantly front-weight lighter camera bodies like the Z f or Z6, and is best balanced on larger bodies like the Z8 or Z9.

Additionally, this is a premium, flagship professional optic with a very high price tag (retailing around $2,799). If you love the 35mm focal length but do not strictly need the extreme f/1.2 light-gathering capability or the absolute pinnacle of edge-to-edge sharpness, Nikon’s much smaller, lighter, and more affordable Z 35mm f/1.8 S or the newer Z 35mm f/1.4 might be more practical choices for everyday shooting.
