Godox AD400Pro II All-in-One Outdoor Flash

The Backpack Beast

Released in late 2025, the Godox AD400Pro II All-in-One Outdoor Flash is the second generation of what many consider the "sweet spot" in the Godox Witstro lineup. It offers 400 watt-seconds (400Ws) of power—twice the output of the AD200 series—giving you enough punch to comfortably overpower the midday sun through a modifier, while still being significantly smaller and lighter than the flagship 600Ws models.

What's New in the Pro II?

Building on the success of the original 2018 model, the AD400Pro II retains the 4.4 lb form factor but introduces several significant upgrades aimed at speed, convenience, and modern workflows:

  • Upgraded 30W Bi-Color Modeling Lamp: It now features a powerful, color-adjustable (2800K to 6000K) continuous LED light. It includes a "PROP" mode where the brightness and color temperature follow your flash power, and is bright enough to serve as a practical continuous fill light for hybrid video shooters.

  • Wider Power Range & Freeze Mode: Power can now be dialed down to an ultra-low 1/512 power in 0.1-stop increments. It also introduces an ultra-fast Freeze Mode, capable of flash durations as short as 1/27,770 second to razor-sharply freeze flying water droplets or fast sports action.

  • One-Tap Sync & Group Color Sync: When paired with the Godox X3 trigger, a single tap instantly pairs the flash without manual channel surfing. The head also features a color-coded indicator light that matches the trigger, making it instantly obvious which flash is assigned to Group A, B, C, etc., on busy sets.

  • Improved Battery & Interface: The detachable 2600mAh battery now yields roughly 460 full-power flashes per charge. The back panel features a new 2.4-inch vibrant color TFT screen for easier navigation in bright daylight.

Modifier Compatibility

The AD400Pro II comes with a native Godox mount (which is smaller and allows for ultra-compact Godox-specific modifiers), but it includes a Bowens-mount adapter ring in the box. This means you can immediately use it with the vast, industry-standard ecosystem of Bowens-mount softboxes, beauty dishes, and snoots without buying extra brackets.

Who is it for?

The AD400Pro II is designed for the serious location photographer—wedding shooters, outdoor portrait artists, and commercial photographers—who need absolute reliability against bright ambient light but want to avoid lugging heavy studio packs or AC generators into the field. It sits right at the intersection of serious studio-grade power and backpack portability.
