Because this sensor is significantly smaller than those found in APS-C or full-frame mirrorless cameras, the P950 is highly dependent on good lighting. Low-light performance is compromised; you will experience noticeable digital noise/grain if you try to shoot wildlife at dusk or deep under a dark forest canopy.

Secondly, powering the massive zoom lens and the high-resolution EVF puts a heavy drain on the relatively small EN-EL20a battery. It is rated for roughly 290 shots per charge, which will deplete very quickly during a long day of birding or video recording. You will absolutely want to purchase and carry spare batteries.

Finally, while the autofocus is generally reliable for static subjects, it relies entirely on Contrast-Detection AF. It is not as blisteringly fast or "sticky" as the advanced Phase-Detection systems found on higher-end interchangeable-lens cameras. You may find it occasionally hunts for focus when tracking fast-moving subjects against cluttered backgrounds.
