To achieve this incredibly compact size and lower price point, Nikon had to make a few strategic compromises. The most notable is the lack of internal optical Vibration Reduction (VR). While this lens relies entirely on the sensor-shift stabilization (IBIS) built into Nikon's full-frame camera bodies, IBIS becomes less effective at longer focal lengths like 180mm compared to in-lens stabilization.
