First and foremost, it is important to remember that the NP-FZ100 batteries are sold separately. The grip does not include any batteries in the box, so you will need to purchase additional batteries if you want to utilize its dual-slot capacity.

Secondly, attaching the grip significantly increases the overall size and weight of your camera rig. It adds roughly 1.9 inches (49mm) of height to the base of your camera. If you are buying a mirrorless camera specifically to keep your travel bag as small and light as possible, this grip defeats that purpose. However, it perfectly balances the camera when shooting with large, heavy lenses like the FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM or 100-400mm GM.

To install the grip, you must physically remove the battery door from your camera body. Fortunately, Sony engineered a clever storage slot directly on the vertical grip itself where you can securely stash your camera's battery door so you don't lose it while the grip is attached.

Finally, ensure you are buying the correct grip for your specific camera body. The VG-C3EM fits only the older cameras listed above. If you own a newer body (like the a7 IV, a7R V, a1, or a9 II), you require the VG-C4EM grip instead.
